Bulls Host First Outdoor Meet of SeasonBUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo men's and women's track and field teams hosted Canisius, several Division III schools and unattached competitors in their first home meet of the 2000 outdoor campaign. The men downed Canisius, 306-115, while the UB women won, 355-118. Multiple first-place finishers for the men's team included Kamau Halim (Medina, NY/Medina) (long jump - 6.93 meters, triple jump - 15.40 meters), Steve Esler (Rochester , NY/Aquinas Institute) (javelin - 40 meters, pole vault - 13-6"), Steve Hoskins (100 meters - :11.17, 200 meters - :22.38), Brian Williams (New Hartford, NY)(110 high hurdles -:16.06, 400 intermediate hurdles - :54.22), and Adam Smith (Varysburg, NY/Attica) (shot put - 14.93 meters, discus-47.52 meters). Winners for the women's squad were Sarah Fletcher (Crystal Beach, ONT/Crystal Beach-Ridgeway) (discus - 43 meters, javelin - 30.18 meters, hammer throw - 51.84 meters), Biaunca McFarland (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) (100 meters - :12.78, triple jump - 11.73 meters), Sarah Kranzler (Central Square, NY/Paul V. Moore) (200 meters - :25.65, long jump - 5.25 meters), and Melissa Ryan (Oswego, NY/Oswego) (100 high hurdles - :14.21, 400 intermediate hurdles - 1:02.67). Coach Dick Barry's team will next travel to Philadephia, PA to compete in the prestigious
Penn Relays between April 26 and 29. |
