Bulls Sweep Albany Invitational

The University at Buffalo men's and women's track and field teams both placed first at the Albany Invitational this past weekend. The men totaled 213 points to win over Albany, Colgate, Holy Cross, and Binghamton while the women scored 220 points for the win.

UB Breaks More Records

Two more Buffalo records fell this past weekend as Adam Smith (Varysburg, NY/Attica) set a new mark and placed first in the shot put with a toss of 49-2 1/2". Steve Esler (Rochester, NY/Aquinas Institute) won the high jump and set a new personal best and school record with a jump of 6-9".

Buffalo has set new school records for the fifth consecutive week of competition.

Buffalo Scores 22 First-Place Finishes

Leading the Bulls with firsts at Albany was senior Sarah Fletcher (Crystal Beach, ONT/Crystal Beach-Ridgeway) who won the hammer (176-2"), javelin (111-8"), shot put (40-8 3/4") and discus (141-9") throws. Sarah Kranzler (Central Square, NY/Paul V. Moore) captured firsts in the long jump (18-1/2") and 100-meter high hurdles (:15.44). Other first-place finishers included Katie Scott (Salamanca, NY/Salamanca) (400-meter hurdles - :62.90), Chrissy Matthews (Waterford, NJ/Edgewood) (high jump - 5-6 1/2"), Biaunca McFarland (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) (triple jump - 38-4"), Eileen Rose (Latham, NY/Shaker) (3000 meters - 10:39.69) and the 4x400 relay team (3:54.42).

For the men, Brian Williams (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) was a multiple winner as he placed first in the 400-meter hurdles (:53:11) and the 110-meter high hurdles (:15:49). Other event-winners included Mike Commisso (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) (800 meters - 1:56.47), Dave Monk (Norwich, NY/Norwich) (400 meters - :48.30), Brian Lundy (Stormville, NY/Carmel) (javelin - 175-8"), Adam Smith (discus - 148-3"), Pete Otovic (Dewitt, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) (200 meters - :23.23), Rashidi Greene (Webster, NY/Aquinas Institute) (hammer throw - 186') and the 4x400 relay squad (3:19.50).
