Multi-Event Athletes Compete at Tennessee's Sea Ray Relays
Todd Joki finishes seventh in the decathlon; Patrice Coney takes eighth in the heptathlon
KNOXVILLE, TN - A pair of University at Buffalo multi-event athletes competed at the Sea
Ray Relays with strong results as the decathlon and heptathlon competitions concluded on Wednesday
night. Men's track and field senior Todd Joki (Saratoga Springs,
NY/Schuylerville) finished seventh in the decathlon while women's performer
Patrice Coney (Lyons, NY/Lyons) was eighth in the heptathlon.
The University of Tennessee hosted the meet.

Joki finished the 10-event, two-day competition with 6,272 points. He had an impressive
first day with a second-place finish and a pair of third-place showings in the opening five events to
stand fourth. He finished second in the 400-meters in 49.35 seconds with only Kent State's Chris Caine
finishing ahead in 49.13. Joki also posted a third-place showing in the 100-meters in 11.17 seconds and
the long jump at 22-3 (6.78m). On the second day, he posted a third-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles
in 15.00 seconds. Former Tennessee All-American Stephen Harris won the decathlon title with
7,618 points while current Volunteers Chris Helwick and Chris Martland were second and third,
respectively. Eight men completed the 10 events after three entrants dropped out after the first day.

Coney scored 4,627 total points in the seven women's events. Her best finish came in the
meet's final competition, the 800-meters, as she took second in the 17-woman field in 2:20.65. She also set
a personal-best with her sixth-place finish in the opening event of the competition, the 100-meter
hurdles in 14.71 seconds. Jessica Stockard of the University of Georgia cruised to the individual title with
5,369 points, more than 200 more than the second- and third-place finishers. Stockard was the Big
12 heptathlon champion last season when she attended Missouri.
