BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo's Roy Richards (Rochester, NY/Edison Tech) has been named as the Mid-American Conference's Men's Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced in Cleveland this afternoon.

Richards led the way for the Bulls at Saturday's Miami Invitational as he won two individual events and was part of a winning relay squad. In his field event, Richards won the long jump at 24-3.75 (7.41m), just missing his season-best mark by a quarter-inch. He won the event by more than a foot and a half over second-place finishers from Miami (OH) and Notre Dame. The leap also met the regional qualfying standard for the event. Richards had already qualified for next month's NCAA East Regional meet in Greensboro, NC with his 24-4 (7.42m) leap at the season-opening UNC-Wilmington Seahawk Invitational. The distance is also the top mark in the Mid-American Conference this season.

On the track, he also posted a win in the 100-meters in 10.96 seconds, establishing a season-best in the event and anchored UB's winning 4x100-meter relay team to a season-best finish of 41.70.

The Bulls travel to Lewisburg, PA this weekend for the Bucknell Bison Open.
