Bulls Get First Taste of MAC Competiton This Season

The University at Buffalo men's and women's track and field teams came back up north to face Mid-American Conference competitors in the McDonald's Invitational Track Meet hosted by Ohio University this past weekend. The women placed third out of seven teams with 143 points. Ohio won with 199 points.

The men placed fourth out of of field of eight with 94 points. Eastern Michigan had 218 points to claim the invitational.

More UB Records Fall

Buffalo has set new school records for the fourth consecutive week of competition.

For the women's team, senior Udo Okeke (Seattle, WA/Lagos) set a new school mark in the 400 meters (:55.89) and placed second in that event. Freshman Biaunca McFarland (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) is the new UB record-holder in the triple jump as she placed first with a leap of 38-11 1/2".

From the men's squad, Kamau Halim (Medina, NY/Medina) set a new triple jump record for the second week in a row with his first-place jump of 50-3 3/4".

Top Buffalo Finishers

Senior Sarah Fletcher (Crystal Beach, ONT/Crystal Beach-Ridgeway) captured first places in both the hammer (181-4") and javelin (112-8") throws while senior Melissa Ryan (Oswego, NY/Oswego) won the 100-meter hurdles (:14.19)

Senior Rashidi Greene (Webster, NY/Aquinas Institute) placed first in the hammer throw(183').
