BOSTON, MA – The University at Buffalo’s indoor track and field teams completed action at their respective regional championships in Boston on Sunday.

At the women’s ECAC Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center at Northeastern University, the Bulls scored three points on Sunday to raise their two-day total to six points and tie for 32nd place in a field of 50 scoring teams. Georgetown took first place with a team total of 65 points.

The UB men competed in the IC4A Championships at Boston University, scoring four points on Sunday to total 14 points and tie for 21st among 51 scoring teams. Penn State won the men’s championship with 71 points.

In its lone event on Sunday at the women’s meet, the Bulls posted a school record in the distance medley relay. UB finished sixth in 11:33.11, cutting more than five seconds off the old mark set earlier this season. The UB foursome consisted of Kate Kohout (Clarence, NY/Clarence), Stacy Downer (Philadelphia, PA/Dobbins/Randolph Tech), Mary Veith (Derby, NY/Lake Shore) and Jen Jezorski (Elmira, NY/Elmira Southside). The foursome also earned all-region honors for their effort. The top eight finishers in all events are awarded the honor.

Meanwhile, the UB men were paced by a sixth-place finish by Dan McKenna (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) in the mile. McKenna, who broke his own record in the event earlier this season, finished the race in 4:10.74, bettering his qualifying mark of 4:11.81 set in Saturday’s heats.

The Bulls also picked up an eighth-place finish from Rayshon Higgins (Buffalo, NY/Bishop Timon-St. Jude) in the triple jump. Higgins, in his only legal jump, cleared 47-6.50 (14.49m) to tie with Albany’s Kamar Elliott. Elliott was awarded seventh-place based on fewer fouls than Higgins. Higgins won the Mid-American Conference crown in the event last weekend.

Weight thrower George Fetchko (Warren, OH/Howland) also competed in the men’s meet. Fetchko finished ninth in the shot put with a toss of 53-7.75 (16.35m). The toss was 3.25 inches shy of the eighth-place mark set by Northeastern’s Nate Hunter that would have given Fetchko all-region honors.
