UB, Okeke Ride Wave of Success into MAC ChampionshipsBUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo indoor track team prepares to take part in the Mid-Amercian Conference Indoor Track Championships hosted by Eastern Michigan this weekend (2/25). The Bulls hope the success they have enjoyed during their regular season is an indication of how they will fair at this year's Championships. Coach Dick Barry's team has set 18 new school records in various indoor track and field events and Udo Okeke (Seattle, WA/Lagos)(1st - 800 meters - 2:10.07), Rashidi Greene (Webster, NY/Webster) (2nd - 35-lb. weight throw - 59' 1 1/2"), and Sarah Fletcher (Crystal Beach, Ontario/Ridgeway-Crystal Beach) (3rd - 20-lb. weight throw -58' 6 1/2") currently rank among the top-three in their individual events in the MAC's top times amd distances for the season. Senior Udo Okeke has emerged as the one of UB's top performers. In addition to being named the MAC Pepsi Female Athlete of the Week on February 15, she is the Conference's top performer in the 800 meters. During the season, Okeke has broken school records individually in the 600 (1:33.6) and 800 (2:10.07) meters and has been part of the record setting 4x400 (3:50.13) and distance medley (12:02.73) relay squads.
