UNIVERSITY PARK, PA - The University at Buffalo men's and women's indoor track and field squads were in action Saturday at the United States Track Coaches Association (USTCA) Invitational at Penn State University.

UB's women placed ninth of 12 squads with 21 points. Big Ten member Indiana won the team competition with 102.33 points. The Bulls men finished 11th in the 11-team field with seven points. Penn State won the team competition with 134 points. The meet featured some of the top programs from around the country.

UB's women were led by Sarah Fletcher (Ridgeway, ON/Ridgeway-Crystal Beach). Fletcher took fourth in the 20-lb. weight throw with a mark of 55-8.5 (16.98m). High jumper Chrissie Matthews (Waterford, NJ/Edgewood) was fourth in her event at 5-6 (1.68m). Biaunca McFarland (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) also placed fourth in the triple jump at 38-11.75 (11.88m). Faith Thompson (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) was 12th in the event at 49-10.5 (15.20m). Melissa Burrows (Norwood, NY/Norwood-Norfolk) was sixth in the 5,000-meters in 17:58.75. Christina Keck (Erie, PA/McDowell) took eighth in the 800-meters in 2:11.97.

Men's jumper Mark Curry (Brockport, NY/Brockport) paced the Bulls taking fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 47-2.5 (14.39m). Mike Commisso (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) was Buffalo's only other scorer at the meet taking sixth place in the 800-meters with a time of 1:51.48. Teammate Ben Moskel (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) placed 11th in the race in 1:53.73.

The Bulls travel to Ithaca next Saturday for the Cornell Kane Invitational.
