Halim Wins MAC HonorsBUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo senior Kamau Halim (Medina, NY/Medina) has been named the Mid-American Conference Male Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week. Halim, the Bulls' top threat in the long and triple jumps, earned the nod by winning the triple jump at Saturday's Eastern Michigan Invitational with a school record leap of 49-0.25. Halim held the previous school indoor record of 48-10 set in the 1999 season. The Bulls placed third of four teams at the meet. The 2000 Mid-American Conference champion in the outdoor triple jump and UB record holder in both the outdoor triple and long jumps, Halim is currently second on the league's top performance chart for the indoor triple jump, three-quarters of an inch behind Western Michigan's Jeka Luhahi. The conference championships are Feb. 22-24 in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. UB travels to the Penn State Invitational this weekend where the Bulls will face some of the
top competition in the country. |
