Athlete of the Week

Senior thrower Rashidi Greene (Webster, NY/Aquinas) set a new school in the 35-pound weight throw at the UB Invitational on Jan. 28th.

Greene broke his own school record with a toss of 58-9" in winning the competition with a distance that currently ranks second in the Mid-American Conference.

Bulls Have Busy Weekend

The Buffalo men's and women's teams both competed twice over the weekend -on Friday at the UB Invitational at Alumni Arena and on Saturday at Western Ontario University at the Don Wright Invitational

The women's team won the UB Invite with 121¹/₂ points and finished second at Western Ontario with 107 points behind the hosts.

The Bulls' men, meanwhile, finished first at the UB Invite with 117 points and second at Western Ontario with 99 points.

UB Women Break Three Records

The Bulls' women's team saw three school records fall over the weekend.

Junior Sarah Fletcher (Crystal Beach, Ontario/Ridgeway-Crystal Beach) broke the school record in the 20-pound weight throw with a toss of 56-4³/₄" at the UB Invite as the Bulls' had eight first-place finishers. Freshman Jenelle Callender (Brooklyn, NY/Brooklyn Tech) won both the 55 meters (:07.49) and the 200 meters (:26.58) for the Bulls.

The following day at Western Ontario, senior Melissa Ryan (Oswego, NY/Oswego) set a school record in the 60-meter high hurdles with a time of :8.91, bettering her own mark. That time is among the top ten in the MAC. Junior Udo Okeke (Seattle, WA/Lagos) broke the school record in the 600 meters in a time of 1:33.6 and also was a part of the winning 1,600- and 3,200-meter relay teams.

Sophomore Christina Matthews (Waterford, NJ/Edgewood) won the pentathlon with an impressive 3,010 points.

Bulls See Two School Records Fall

The Bulls' men team won seven events at the UB Invitational and six at the Don Wright Invitational at Western Ontario.

In the UB Invite, Jason Liddle (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy) set a personal best in the pole vault with a leap of 15-0, which ranks in the top ten in the MAC this season.

At the Don Wright Invitational, sophomore Brian Williams (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) had a dominant performance. Williams set a school record in the 60-meter high hurdles with a time of :08.62, won the 300 meters in :36.64 and also ran on the

winning 1,600-meter relay team.

Halim Ranks First in MAC

UB junior jump specialist Kamau Halim (Medina/NY/Medina) currently ranks first in the MAC with his school record leap of 48-2¹/₂" at the Doug Raymond Invitational on Jan. 22nd. That mark is tied with Western Michigan's Jeka Luhahi as best in the conference this season.
