Bulls Finish Strong at InvitationalNEW YORK, NY - The Bulls' indoor track and field teams continued competition in the 2001-2002 season at the University Centers Invitational over the weekend. The women's team placed second behind Northeastern University with 148 points. The men's team placed third behind Northeastern and Albany with 152 points.
Junior Jerimie Slick (Greece, NY/ Greece-Olympia) set a personal best and new school record in winning the mile run in 4:17.53. Junior Joe Clark (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) took first in the 400 with a 48.19 finish. Freshman Uchechukwa Uche (Rochester, NY/East Rochester) took first in the 200 meters with a 22.22 finish. Freshman Sheldon Battle (Jamestown, NY/ Jamestown) took first in the shot put with a toss of 53-00.25" (16.6m). The UB 4 x 400m team took first with a 3.17.25 finish. Freshman Tim Dance (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) qualified for the IC4A meet in the 55 meters with a time of 6.42.
In the women's competition, junior Jenelle Callender (Brooklyn, NY/ Brooklyn Tech) ran a season's best of 58.32, winning first place in the 400m. Junior Meagan Rogers (Courtenay, BC/ George P. Vanier) placed first in the 55 hurdles with an 8.63 finish. Sophomore Laura Olson (Lyons, NY/Lyons) set a new school record in the pole vault with a jump of 3.35m (10'11.75"). The men's and women's indoor track and field teams will host the UB Invitational on Friday,
