BUFFALO, NY – Senior Jen Jezorski (Elmira, NY/Elmira Southside HS) was named the Mid-American Conference Female Scholar Athlete of the Week, as was announced by the league Wednesday. Jezorski becomes the first UB female athlete to nab the weekly honor this year.

Jezorski, a speech and hearing sciences major with a 3.65 GPA, had an impressive weekend at the Kent State Black Squirrel Classic, as she broke the school record to win the 1,000-meter run. Jezorski turned in a 2:52.06 to better Christina Keck's 2001 record by more than two seconds and improve on her own personal best by three seconds. With her performance, Jezorski attained ECAC qualifying standards, thus qualifying for the ECAC Championships in March.

The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.

Jezorski and the rest of the Indoor Track & Field squad return to action Saturday, where it will compete in the Cornell Upstate Challenge in Ithaca, NY. The meet begins on Friday at 5 p.m.
