Meili Carpenter Named to Academic All-District Team

UB junior named to second team for athletic and academic excellence

BUFFALO, NY- University at Buffalo junior Meili Carpenter has been named to the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I University Division Second Team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday morning.

Carpenter, a standout diver on UB’s swimming and diving team, won the platform event at the NCAA Zone A Championships and finished second in the one- and three-meter diving events at the Mid-American Conference Championships. Carpenter represented UB at the 2009 NCAA National Swimming and Diving Championships for the second consecutive season.

The Chemistry major holds a 3.77 GPA, qualifying her as a UB Scholar-Athlete, and was also named to the Academic All-MAC team, as well as the Second Team All-MAC and was awarded the MAC Presidential Award. Carpenter currently owns the school records in the one- and three-meter diving events.
