Carpenter Wins One-Meter Event to Start Zone Meet

Senior diver Meili Carpenter earns 626.20 points to earn the top spot

PISCATAWAY, NJ - The first day of the 2010 Zone A Diving Championships were completed Friday night at Rutgers’ Sonny Werblin Recreation Center. Senior diver Meili Carpenter finished in the top spot of the women’s one-meter event and Kenny Rhoades took fourth place in the men’s three-meter event to start the weekend.

Carpenter scored 308.55 points to rank first overall out of 43 divers after the preliminary round of the one-meter event. She then tallied a score of 317.65 to finish with an overall score of 626.20 to earn the first-place finish.

In the men’s three-meter event, Rhoades finished fourth overall, out of 38 competitors, with a preliminary score of 319.80 and a final score of 320.55 for a total score of 640.35. Colin Patrican finished 22nd with a preliminary score of 245.40.
