Bulls Fight Their Way to Fifth at MAC Champs Buffalo breaks three more records in day three BOWLING GREEN, OH- Buffalo moved up to fifth place after Friday's events at the MAC Championship meet at Cooper Pool in Bowling Green, Ohio. The Bulls finished the day with three more school records in the 400 medley relay, 100 breaststroke and 100 backstroke. To open the meet, the relay of Rachel Sorg, Brynn Marecki, Sam Eckert and Jessie Koltz swam four seconds faster than the previous UB record, in a time of 3:44.39 to place fourth in the event. Marecki broke the 100 breaststroke record for the fourth time this season, swimming nearly two seconds faster than she did in December, in a time of 1:01.95 and a third-place finish. Sorg's time of 55:26 broke a school record in the 100 backstroke and earned her a third-place finish as well.
Jessica Ballard earned a lifetime-best 4:23.03 to place seventh in the 400 IM, while Alie Schirmers won the consolation heat in a time of 4:23.65. The 100 butterfly showcased Eckert and Sam Palma in the consolation heat. Eckert won the heat in a lifetime-best 55.66 and Palma was close behind, finishing in 12th place with a time of 56.05. Ursula Jeske dove in the consolation finals, finishing on the three-meter board in 16th place with 200.04 points on the day.
The Bulls end day three with 233 points with Akron hot on their trail with 226 points. Miami leads the way with 430 points followed by Ohio (398.5), Toledo (397.5) and Eastern Michigan (322.5). Bowling Green and Ball State stand in seventh and eighth place, respectively. Competition will continue through Saturday.
