Buffalo Drops Season Finale at Toledo

Bulls fall 189-103 in final dual meet

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's swimming and diving team lost a hard fought road match to MAC rival Toledo this afternoon at the UT Rec Center, 189-103. The Bulls finish their season with a 9-3(4-3 MAC) record, as the Rockets finish their season 6-5 (5-2 MAC). The women's MAC record is their best since joining the conference in 1998.

The meet was highlighted by a first-place finish from Jessie Koltz in the 50 freestyle, finishing in a time of 24.23. Koltz also picked up second-place points in the 100 butterfly, swimming to a time of 58.57. Rachel Sorg collected points for the Bulls, placing second in both the 100 backstroke (59.36) and the 200 backstroke (2:09.05). Meili Carpenter took second in the one-meter diving event (274.35) as well as on the three-meter board (261.08), finishing just tenths behind Toledo?s Brittany Teneyck. Toledo won both the 200 freestyle relay and the 200 medley relay, but not without a good fight from the Bulls, as Buffalo was just touched-out for second place in both events.

The Toledo meet completes the women's regular season schedule. The Bulls will take the next three weeks off to prepare for the MAC Championship meet, being held in Bowling Green, Ohio beginning on February 25.
