About UB Cheerleading

Photo of UB Cheerleaders
The University at Buffalo Cheerleaders are a close-knit group of college students. This co-ed squad cheers at home football and men's and women's basketball games. UB cheerleaders participate in public relations events, post season play and at university functions. UB Cheerleaders are not only crowd leaders, but also ambassadors of the University. The cheerleaders are part of the Division of Athletics and work with the Marching Band and Pep Band to create and promote spirit for Bull's games and events.

In addition to supporting the Bulls, the squad regularly competes on national level. In the past ten years, UB cheerleaders have placed in the top ten nationally seven times, including a national championship and runner-up in 1994 and 1995.

The cheerleader's primary mission is to interact with the crowd, generating enthusiasm and spirit for the Bulls. The time outs and half time allow them to show their routines and stunts as the crowd backs the Bulls to victory.

The highlight of a fall Saturday is the Bull's football games. With an expansion completed in the summer of 1999 the stadium seats 31,000 spectators. The football season is one of the most exciting times for the University at Buffalo, and the UB cheerleaders play an important role in helping to get the crowd into the game.
