Breanne Nasti Named to All-Mideast Region First Team

Senior finished career with .387 batting average

BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo softball player Breanne Nasti (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) has been named to the 2004 All-Mideast Region First Team, as announced this afternoon by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Nasti was one of three outfielders named to the 12-player first team after leading the Bulls' offense for the fourth straight year with a .336 batting average and 31 RBIs in 48 games. Nasti has now earned All-Region honors three times in her four-year career.

Nasti was an All-Mid-American Conference Second Team selection and a CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-District I Second Team pick this season after leading the Bulls in batting average while also recording a team-high 44 hits, 23 runs scored and nine home runs with a .626 slugging percentage and a .443 on base percentage. Nasti hit her second career grand slam against Stony Brook on April 22, and she finished her career second all-time in the history of the MAC with 27 career home runs. Nasti is the best hitter in Buffalo softball history, standing atop virtually every UB single-season and career batting record list, including career batting average (.387), career home runs (27) and career RBIs (113). Her 113 career RBIs are 10th all-time in the MAC.

Nasti was also named to the All-Mideast Region First Team as an outfielder during her sophomore season in 2002, and she was an All-Mideast Region Second Team honoree as a utility player as a freshman in 2001. The Bulls have had a player earn All-Region honors four times during their five-year Division I history, with Jennifer Moore being the first to do so in 2000. Moore was chosen as the designated player on the Northeast Region Second Team in Buffalo's first season of Division I softball competition. The Bulls competed as an independent in the Northeast Region in 2000 but moved to the Mideast Region beginning with the 2001 season, their first competing in softball in the MAC.

Nasti and Amanda Williams of Marshall were the only two members of the MAC to earn All-Mideast Region First Team honors in 2004. Marshall utility player Sierra Davenport was named to the second team.

Nasti and the other members of each All-Region first and second team are now eligible for All-America honors, which will be voted on by an All-American selection committee and announced on Wednesday, May 26.
