Three UB Softball Players Earn Academic All-MAC Honors
Junior Breanne Nasti also named to Verizon Academic All-District I Second Team
 | | Breanne Nasti | CLEVELAND, OH - Three members of the University at Buffalo softball team - junior
Breanne Nasti (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) and sophomores
Stacey Evans (Collinsville, IL/Triad)
and Ann Magur (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott)
- were named to the 2003 Academic All-MAC Team, as
announced today by the Mid-American Conference. To qualify for the Academic All-MAC Team, a
student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and have participated in at least 50 percent
of her team's contests. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are
not eligible for the award, and outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments from the current
season only are considered. The members of the Academic All-MAC Team were voted on by the
league's faculty athletics representatives. Because of a tie in the voting, the 15-member team was expanded to
17 members.
Nasti was an All-MAC First Team selection after finishing the season with a .402 batting
average, a .452 slugging percentage and a .496 on-base percentage. | | Stacey Evans | She was one of just eight honorees
on the first and second teams who also earned All-MAC accolades last season and just one of three
to repeat as an All-MAC First Team honoree. A psychology major with a 3.57 grade point average,
Nasti was the recipient of the Bulls' Coach's Award this past season, and she was also recently named to
the Verizon Academic All-District I Second Team, as chosen by CoSIDA (College Sports
Information Directors of America), marking the second straight year that she received Academic All-District
recognition.
Evans was the Bulls' Most Valuable Player in 2003 after setting school records for earned
run average (1.68) and strikeouts in a season (137). She also became UB's career strikeout leader with 238.
Evans had 10 wins and two saves during the season, and she pitched five shutouts, including a 1-0
win over No. 25 Baylor at the Hawaii Malihini Tournament on March 6. She was a two-time MAC
East Pitcher of the Week selection in 2003. Evans is a business major with a 3.48 grade point average.
 | | Ann Magur | Magur hit .421 in the Bulls' last five games of the season to up her season batting average
to .306, including .329 in league games only. She had 10 multiple-hit games during the season and
scored a team-high 20 runs while driving in seven runs on the year. She had a .364 slugging percentage and
a .373 on-base percentage. Magur was named MAC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week on March
19 after going 4-for-9 with one run scored and two RBIs in three games at the San Jose State Invitational.
A management major, she carries a 3.83 grade point average.
The Bulls' three players named to the Academic All-MAC Team were the second-most out of
the league's 13 schools, trailing Kent State's six honorees.
