Evans and Nasti Earn All-MAC Softball Honors
Both also named to CoSIDA Academic All-District I Team
BUFFALO, NY - Two University at Buffalo softball players earned postseason recognition from
the Mid-American Conference, with junior pitcher
Stacey Evans (Collinsville,
IL/Triad) being named to the All-MAC First Team and senior
Breanne Nasti (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) earning All-MAC Second
Team honors, as voted on by the league's head coaches and announced last night at an awards banquet held
in Akron, OH prior to the start of the 2004 MAC Softball Tournament.
 | | Stacey Evans | The postseason honor is the first for Evans, who is coming off an incredible season on the
mound in which she led the MAC in earned run average during the regular season, both overall (1.38) and
in MAC games only (0.76). Evans finished the season with a 13-11 record, 8-6 in the MAC, with
nine shutouts, including six in league play. She ended the year by pitching her first career no-hitter in
the Bulls' season finale at Toledo on May 8. She also tied her career high with 12 strikeouts against
the Rockets, and she finished the year with a UB single-season record 178 strikeouts. Her 29
appearances, 13 wins, 182.1 innings pitched, nine shutouts and 1.38 ERA in 2004 are also school records. She had
a streak of 69.2 innings pitched without allowing an earned run from March 21 through April 24,
during which she recorded seven wins and lowered her ERA from 2.95 to 1.36. She was named MAC
East Pitcher of the Week three times during the 2004 season.
 | | Breanne Nasti | Nasti led the Bulls in batting average (.336) for the fourth straight year in 2004 while also
recording a team-high 44 hits, 23 runs scored, nine home runs and 31 runs batted in with a .626
slugging percentage and a .443 on base percentage. Nasti hit her second career grand slam against Stony
Brook on April 22, and she finished her career second all-time in the history of the MAC with 27 career
home runs. Nasti is the best hitter in Buffalo softball history, standing atop virtually every UB
single-season and career batting record list, including career batting average (.387), career home runs (27) and
career RBIs (113). Her 113 career RBIs are 10th all-time in the MAC. Nasti is a two-time All-MAC
First Team honoree and a two-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region selection.
In addition to receiving All-MAC honors, Evans and Nasti also both earned Academic All-District I honors, as chosen by CoSIDA (College Sports Information
Directors of America). Evans, a business administration major with a 3.62 grade point average, was named to the Academic All-District I First Team. She is now eligible for national Academic All-America honors, which will be announced on June 3. Nasti, meanwhile, earned Academic All-District I Second Team accolades for the third consecutive year. She is a psychology major with a 3.637 GPA.
Evans and Nasti led the Bulls to their most successful season at the Division I level in 2004
with a 25-23 overall record and an 11-10 mark in the MAC. Buffalo finished the season seventh in the
MAC, falling just short of reaching the six-team MAC Tournament field for the first time.
