BUFFALO, NY - For the third time this season and the sixth time in her career, University at Buffalo junior pitcher Stacey Evans (Collinsville, IL/Triad) has been named Mid-American Conference East Division Pitcher of the Week, as announced today by the league office. Evans pitched two shutouts last week, including her first career no-hitter in the Bulls' regular season finale at Toledo on Saturday.

Evans had a 0.70 earned run average in three complete games last week to lower her season ERA to 1.38 overall and 0.76 in MAC games only, both tops in the league. She allowed just two hits and struck out eight in a 5-0 shutout at Ball State on Wednesday and then tied her career high with 12 strikeouts while holding Toledo without a hit in a 1-0 victory on Saturday. Evans had 23 strikeouts and just two walks in 20.0 innings pitched during the week.

Evans, a candidate for MAC Pitcher of the Year, led the Bulls (25-23 overall, 11-10 MAC) to their most successful season at the Division I level. Her 29 appearances, 13 wins, nine shutouts, 182.1 innings pitched, 178 strikeouts and 1.38 ERA in 2004 are all UB single-season records.
