Breanne Nasti Named to All-MAC First Team

Junior finished season with .402 batting average

BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo junior Breanne Nasti (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) earned accolades from the Mid-American Conference, being named to the All-MAC First Team for the second year in a row. Members of the All-MAC teams were chosen by the league's head coaches and announced tonight at the annual banquet held in conjunction with the MAC Softball Tournament in Akron, OH.

Nasti finished the season with a batting average over .400 for the second year in a row, batting .402 overall (fifth in the MAC) and .404 in conference games only (eighth in the MAC). Nasti is currently leading the league in on-base percentage (.496), and she also finished the year with a .542 slugging percentage, 18 runs scored and 14 runs batted in. Nasti had 11 multiple-hit games during the season, and she put together a 10-game hitting streak, her longest of the season, from April 13 to April 26, hitting .577 during that stretch (15-for-26). Near the end of that streak, she doubled to drive in the only run in a 1-0 win over Miami, snapping the RedHawks' nine-game winning streak. She also went 2-for-3 with a double and scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning in Buffalo's 3-2 win over Ohio and had four hits in a three-game series at defending MAC Tournament champion Central Michigan. Nasti recently had four RBIs, including the final three, in Buffalo's 7-4 come-from-behind win at 2003 MAC West Division champion Western Michigan on April 29. She was named MAC East Player of the Week on March 3 after starting the season by hitting .529 (9-for-17) and driving in four runs in five games at the Florida International Tournament. Nasti has maintained her spot as the MAC's all-time career batting average leader with a current mark of .405 (153-for-378). She holds UB single-season and career records for nearly every offensive statistical category.

Nasti was one of just eight honorees on the first and second teams who also earned All-MAC accolades last season and just one of three to repeat as an All-MAC First Team honoree.
