Bulls Sweep MAC Weekly Awards
Nasti named East Division Co-Player of the Week, Evans Named East Division Pitcher of the Week
CLEVELAND, OH - The University at Buffalo's softball team swept the Mid-American
Conference's East Division weekly awards, as announced by the conference office this afternoon, with
sophomore Breanne Nasti (Baldwin,
NY/Baldwin) being named East Division Co-Player of the Week and
freshman Stacey Evans (Collinsville, IL/Triad)
being named East Division Pitcher of the Week. Nasti was also named MAC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
 | | Breanne Nasti | Nasti hit .579 on the week (11-for-19) to finish the 2002 season with a UB and
Mid-American Conference record .451 batting average for the season, breaking Toledo's Leigh Ross' 1991 record
of .447. She extended her longest hitting streak of the year to 14 games with hits in each game of the
Bulls' three-game series at MAC East Division champion Akron on Tuesday and Wednesday, and she
ended the year hitting safely in 16 of her last 17 games with a .500 average during that stretch (29-for-58).
Nasti had one double and two triples in Buffalo's six games last week to raise her season
slugging percentage to .788. She also had four multiple-hit games, bringing her multi-hit game total to 18 for
the season. Nasti was also named MAC East Player of the Week on April 8, and she has now earned
the honor four times in her short career. She shares this week's honor with Ohio's Jenny Tisevich who
hit .474 with two home runs and 13 RBIs in the last five games of the season to help send the Bobcats to
the MAC Championship in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1982-85.
 | | Stacey Evans | Evans was named MAC East Division Pitcher of the Week for the first time in her career
after going 3-0 last week with two shutouts, including one over MAC East Division champion Akron.
She pitched three complete games and also made one relief appearance on the week, allowing just five
runs in 25 innings pitched for a 1.40 earned run average. She also struck out 24 batters during the week
to finish the year with a UB single-season record 101 strikeouts. Evans lowered her season ERA to a
team-best 2.76, and she finished the season with a team-high seven wins on the mound.
