BUFFALO, NY - UB Seniors Allison Round (Markham, Ontario/Markham District) and Marce Ross (Innisfil, Ontario/St. Peter's) made the final home game of their careers memorable by hitting home runs. However, it wasn't enough as Marshall came from behind to beat Buffalo, 5-3, on Sundy afternoon at Nan Harvey Field.

After a scoreless first inning, Marshall (29-26, 10-11) scored a run in the top of the second inning on an RBI double by Leigh Wintter. The Thundering Herd held the 1-0 advantage until the bottom of the fourth inning when after Melissa Pace (Long Beach, CA/Millikan) reached base by getting hit by a pitch, Round hit her first home run of the season to give the Bulls (22-22, 8-9) a 2-1 lead.

The Thundering Herd responded with a run in the top of the sixth inning on an RBI double by Jessica Williams to tie the game, 2-2. In the bottom of the sixth inning, it was Ross' turn to hit her first homer of the season. The long ball gave the Bulls a 3-2 lead heading into the seventh inning. However, in the top of the seventh, Amanda Williams launch a three-run home run off of UB starter Stacey Evans (Collinsville, IL/Triad) to give the Herd a 5-3 lead. The Bulls were able to bring the winning run to the plate in the bottom half of the seventh inning, but were unable to capitalize.

Evans took the loss for the Bulls to drop to 11-10 on the season. Amanda Luers earned her fifth win of the season in relief for Marshall.

Sunday's game was the final home contest for seniors Round, Ross, Dominique Jones (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-DeWitt), Jessica Labella (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park), Heather Robbins (West Bloomfield, MI/West Bloomfield) and Breanne Nasti (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin).

The Bulls will next play a doubleheader at Ball State on May 5.
