Softball Inks Two More Standouts for 2009-2010 Andrea Saucier and Alyssa Ward will join the Bulls next season BUFFALO, NY- The Bulls signed two more standouts for the 2009 recruiting class this week, as announced by University at Buffalo Softball Head Coach, Jennifer Teague. Andrea Saucier (Peoria, AZ/Centennial High School) and infielder/catcher Alyssa Ward (Cameron Park, CA/Ponderosa High School) will join the squad beginning next fall. "I'm extremely excited about the addition of these two athletes to our 2009 recruiting class. They are going to be a great fit to the Bulls program,“ Teague said.”They are both kids that we are looking to contribute to the success of our program right away and feel that they will." Saucier comes from a tradition of winning. At Centennial High School her team was the Regional Champion in 2007 and State Runners-up in 2006 and 2007. This year they are ranked number one and Saucier is a big part of their success as their starting second baseman. Ward is a catcher and third baseman. She is an offensive threat with a .500 batting average and a .762 slugging percentage in her senior season at Ponderosa High school. She also has a fielding percentage of 1.000. "Alyssa is the complete player that this program needs. She is going to add power and presence at the plate. We are very excited to see what impact Alyssa is going to make right away for us," said Teague. Teague wrapped up her statements by saying, "Both of these athletes are going to be great additions to our already strong 2009 recruiting class. We are very excited to see the immediate impact they both make." The Bulls have now signed five student-athletes to National Letters of Intent for the 2009-2010 season. UB softball is in action this afternoon as they take on local rival Canisius at 2 pm at Nan Harvey Field.
