Softball Battles Golden FlashesBUFFALO, NY- The University at Buffalo softball team completed its series against Kent State on Sunday. The Bulls fell to the Golden Flashes, 4-0.
Mary Russell (Apalachin, NY/Owego) ended the contest 2-for-3 with a stolen base while Marcy Hansen (Claremont, CA/Claremont) finished 1-for-2 with a walk and two stolen bases. After three scoreless innings, Kent State inked an unearned run in the top of the fourth while plating another run in the top of the sixth and two in the seventh. Despite having runners in scoring position in both the first and fifth innings, Buffalo was unable to score against a defensively-savvy Kent State squad.
Sharon Barr (Coarsegold, CA/Yosemite Union) pitched six very strong innings for the Bulls, striking out five while giving up just five hits and two earned runs. Buffalo will return to action on Wednesday, when the Bulls take on Syracuse University in a non-league doubleheader in Syracuse. UB will then host Eastern Michigan in a Mid-American Conference doubleheader on Friday, May 2 at 1:00 pm on Nan Harvey Field. |
