The RedHawks did all of their damage in the fifth inning with a two-out rally, started on a bunt single by Jamie Carey, her third single of the game. Jessica Zogaib followed with a single to right to put two runners on base, and Becca Garcia then drove in Carey with a single to right. Chelsie McWorther then blasted a three-run home run over the fence in left center to give the RedHawks a 4-0 lead. Pitcher Jackie Poggendorf and the Miami defense did the rest of the work, keeping the Bulls off the scoreboard to keep their winning streak alive. Poggendorf gave up just four hits and struck out 10 batters to improve to 9-10 on the season. Buffalo starter Stacey Evans (Collinsville, IL/Triad) gave up eights hits and struck out four to move to 10-10 on the year.

Junior Breanne Nasti (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) belted a first-inning double to right center. She was 1-for-2 in the game, as was designated player Lisa Wheat (Olympia, WA/Tumwater). Senior Kelly Malone (Waterford, MI/Waterford Kettering) and junior pinch hitter Dominique Jones (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-DeWitt) accounted for Buffalo's other two hits.

The Bulls and the RedHawks will conclude their three-game series with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 26 beginning at 1 pm.
