Bulls Drop Non-Conference Double Header to Pittsburgh Senior Erin Zilka went two-for-three in game two BUFFALO, NY- The University at Buffalo softball team took on the Pittsburgh Panthers in a non-conference road game at Pittsburgh's Trees Field this afternoon. The Bulls were shutout, 9-0 and 5-0 on the afternoon. In game one, both teams were held scoreless for three innings, as freshman pitcher Terese Diaz struck out three batters in four innings. Sharon Barr finished the game on the mound for Buffalo. The Panthers started their scoring in the fourth inning with a two-run homer. Dominique Carcone and Lindsey Hampton each had hits for Buffalo.
Barr pitched the complete second game, striking out five batters in the afternoon. The Bulls were held scoreless by a powerful Panther defense. Pitt scored a run in the second inning and capitalized on Buffalo's mistakes to score three runs in the bottom of the third. They went on to score one more in the fourth to take their second win of the day. The Bulls could not get their hitting game on track, as Erin Zilka had Buffalo?s only two hits in the game.
The Bulls continue on the road with conference games against Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan this weekend. The weekend kicks off with a doubleheader against Central Michigan, which is set to begin at 1pm on Friday in Mt. Pleasant, MI.
