Breanne Nasti Named MAC East Softball Player of the Week

Sophomore earns honor for first time this season and third time in career

CLEVELAND, OH - University at Buffalo sophomore outfielder Breanne Nasti (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) was named Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week, as announced by the league office this afternoon. Nasti is the first member of the Bulls' softball team to receive Player of the Week honors this season, and she earns the honor for the third time in her career after being named MAC East Player of the Week twice in her rookie campaign last season.

Nasti hit .750 (6-for-8) in the Bulls' three-game series against Western Michigan last weekend, including a perfect 5-for-5 in Sunday's doubleheader split. Nasti had two doubles in the Bulls' 12th-inning 2-1 win over the Broncos, including a leadoff double in the seventh that set up the game-tying run and forced extra innings. She also had home runs in each of Buffalo's losses - a solo shot in the seventh inning of Saturday's 2-1 loss and a two-run blast in the fifth inning of Sunday's 6-4 loss. Nasti's six hits in the series increased her batting average to .422, and her four extra-base hits increased her slugging percentage to .867 for the season. Both of those numbers are tops in the conference. Nasti also leads the Bulls with 19 hits, three doubles, five home runs and 12 runs batted in this year. She is currently riding a seven-game hitting streak during which she has hit .619 (13-of-21) with three doubles, three home runs, five runs scored and seven RBIs. In Buffalo's nine MAC games, she is batting .500 (13-for-26) and has a 1.077 slugging percentage with three doubles and four home runs included in her 13 hits.

Nasti will lead the Bulls (2-14, 1-8 MAC) this week at Colgate in a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 9 at 3:30 pm and at home against St. Bonaventure in a twinbill on Wednesday, April 10 at 3 pm. Buffalo returns to conference play with a three-game series at Northern Illinois on Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14.
