A City Divided

The Bulls split their Wednesday afternoon doubleheader against cross-city rival Canisius, defeating the Griffs 5-3 in the nightcap while suffering a 6-2 setback in the day’s first game.

In the win, Mary Russell (Apalachin, NY/Owego) roped a big two RBI single through the right side to help Buffalo battle back after facing an early deficit. UB scored four runs in the top of the third after allowing Canisius to tack three on the board through the first two innings.

Bulls Record First MAC Win

Buffalo opened up the Mid-American Conference portion of its schedule on Friday, facing the Ohio Bobcats in a doubleheader in Athens. Buffalo split with the Bobcats, taking the nightcap 6-4 while suffering a tight 6-5 setback in the opening game.

Kristen Gallipani (Brewster, NY/Brewster) provided powerful offense for Buffalo, roping a three-run homer in the fourth inning of the second game to aid in securing Buffalo’s first Conference win of the season.

Over The Fence

Junior catcher Erin Zilka (Benicia, CA/Benicia) had a solid week offensively for Buffalo, particularly against Akron. In the Bulls’ two-day series in Akron, Zilka spanked lead-off homeruns in both games to give UB an immediate 1-0 advantage.
