KENT, OH – The University at Buffalo softball team got one game of a doubleheader in this afternoon at Kent State, falling to the Golden Flashes by a 2-0 score. The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was postponed until Monday when the two teams will attempt to complete the three-games series with a doubleheader beginning at noon.

The Golden Flashes broke the scoreless tie with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on an RBI-double by Lea Dorto and an RBI-single by Rachel Testa. KSU pitcher Kate Leary threw her third consecutive shutout, going the distance on the mound and allowing just four hits while striking out eight. Buffalo sophomore Stacey Evans (Collinsville, IL/Triad) also pitched the complete game, allowing seven hits and striking out five. Junior Breanne Nasti (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) was 1-for-2 from the plate, hitting her team-leading fifth double of the year in the top of the first inning. Buffalo's other three hits on the afternoon were singles by junior Marce Ross (Innisfil, Ontario/St. Peter's), senior Jessica Kensy (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) and senior Kelly Malone (Waterford, MI/Waterford Kettering).
After tomorrow's games at Kent State, the Bulls (9-11 overall, 1-3 Mid-American) will return home for a non-conference doubleheader against Colgate on Wednesday, April 2 at 2:30 pm at the UB Softball Stadium.
