Buffalo Softball Opens MAC Play at Kent State Bulls fall to Golden Flashes in weekend opener KENT, OH- The University at Buffalo softball team opened MAC play on the road this afternoon at Kent State. The Bulls fell to the Golden Flashes, 2-0, in the first of two games this weekend, bringing their record to 17-9 (0-1 MAC).
Freshman pitcher Terese Diaz started on the mound for the Bulls, holding Kent State to one hit, while striking out two batters. Sharon Barr relieved Diaz partway through the third inning. With Barr on the mound, UB held Kent State to one hit and no runs, striking out three batters. The Bulls kept the game close, battling through two and a half scoreless innings before Kent State saw a spurt of scoring. The Golden Flashes pulled ahead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning. Kent State's Leah Archual homered to right field sending two runs home to put the Golden Flashes up by two. That was the only score of the game, as the Bulls could not string together a series of hits and therefore were unable to produce a run in the game. Candice Sheehan and Kristin Waldron each had hits for Buffalo.
Buffalo will conclude their series with Kent State on Sunday. The Bulls and the Golden Flashes are slated for a 1:00 pm start tomorrow afternoon in Kent, Ohio.
