Bulls Drop Pair at Akron The Bulls met the Akron Zips for a doubleheader with the Mid-American Conference member. UB fell to the Zips by identical 12-0 scores in both contests. The losses come on the heels of an earlier loss to the Zips at the Winthrop Classic on March 18. UB managed just one hit in the opener, a two-out single by Kim Lawrence (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg). It proved to be the only baserunner allowed by Akron pitcher Lisa Keenan in the five inning contest. Jessica York (South Dayton, NY/Pine Valley), in just her second start of the year, absorbed the loss and is now 1-1 on the season. The Bulls collected four hits in the nightcap, singles by Stacee Madden (Corning, NY/East), Lawrence, Jessica Kensy (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) and Lisa Cox (Getzville, NY/Williamsville North). Kensy took the loss for the Bulls dropping her to 2-5 on the mound.
At the Plate As a team, the Bulls are hitting .288 on the season. Junior Danielle Haynes (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) and senior Kim Coon (Belding, MI/Belding) are the Bulls' leading hitters. Haynes is hitting a team-high .425 in 17 contests while Coon sports a .381 season average. Kelly Malone (Waterford, MI/Waterford Kettering) still leads UB in homers (4) and RBIs (12). Stacee Madden (Corning, NY/East) and Tina Breakell (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) have each driven in eight.
On the Mound The Bulls' pitching staff holds a team earned run average of 6.82 this season. Jessica Kensy leads the staff at 6.03 while Andrea Sage (Depew, NY/Depew) tops the Bulls with 48.2 innings pitched and has a 7.19 ERA. Jessica York is at 7.22 after two games. Marie Curran's club as the Bulls have eight contests
