BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo junior Stacey Evans (Collinsville, IL/Triad) has been named Mid-American Conference East Division Pitcher of the Week and MAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Week for her performance at last weekend's San Diego Classic, as announced by the conference office. The honor marks the fourth time in Evans' career that she has been named MAC East Pitcher of the Week.

Evans appeared in all five games at last weekend's San Diego Classic, compiling a 1-1 record and recording her first save of the season. Evans pitched her first shutout of the year against Dartmouth, striking out nine and allowing just two hits in a complete-game, 1-0 victory on Friday. She also picked up her first save of the year against San Diego on Saturday after coming on in relief of freshman Sophie Barstad (Canby, OR/Canby) in the seventh inning of the Bulls' 7-4 win. Evans had a 0.91 earned run average, allowing just three earned runs and striking out 19 batters in 23.0 innings pitched during the tournament. For the season, Evans has a 2.82 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 62.0 innings pitched with a 2-5 record.

Evans and the Bulls (8-11) are next in action on Thursday, March 25 in a 2 pm doubleheader at local rival Canisius College. They then open the Mid-American Conference season with a three-game series at Miami (OH) on Saturday, March 27 and Sunday, March 28.
