Nasti Earns MAC East Player of the Week Honor For Second Time This Season

Freshman Set UB Single-Season RBI and Home Run Records Over the Weekend

BUFFALO, NY - For the second time in three weeks, University at Buffalo freshman Breanne Nasti (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) was named Mid-American Conference East Player of the Week, as announced on Tuesday, March 20 by the conference office.

Nasti hit .412 (7-for-17) with 11 RBIs, three doubles, one triple and one home run in five games at the Ohio State Buckeye Invitational over the weekend en route to being named to the All-Tournament Team. She helped the Bulls to a third-place finish with a 4-for-5 performance in their 13-2 win over IUPUI in the consolation final. Of her four hits, three were doubles and one was a home run, and she drove in nine of Buffalo's 13 runs. Nasti leads the Bulls with 28 hits and a .438 batting average so far this season. Her team-leading 28 RBIs and seven home runs are both UB single-season records.

Nasti became the first player in UB softball history to receive MAC East Player of the Week honors when she received the first weekly award of the season on March 5. The Bulls (3-17) will begin their first season of conference competition this weekend at Kent State with a single game against the Golden Flashes on Friday, March 23 and a doubleheader on Saturday, March 24. Buffalo's first MAC home game is scheduled for next Friday, March 30 at 3 pm against Ohio.
