In the early game, the Bulls fell, 7-1, to Hofstra as the Pride used the long ball, hitting three home runs against UB starter Margo Schramm (Phoenix, AZ/Catalina Foothills/Iowa Lakes CC). Down 4-0 in the contest, the Bulls got their only run of the game as Mary Russell (Apalachin, NY/Owego Free Academy) led the inning off with a single down the left field line. After stealing second, Russell scored when senior Lauren Picciano (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) reached base on an error. Junior Sophie Barstad (Canby, OR/Canby) led the Bulls at the plate, going 2-for-3 in the contest.

In the nightcap, NC State used four UB errors as it escaped with a 5-2 victory. The Bulls had a chance to take an early lead as they went into the second inning down 1-0. Laura Kor (Beaverton, OR/Westview) led off the inning with a walk and advanced to third on a Picciano double. With two outs, Marcy Hansen (Claremont, CA/Claremont) drilled a single up the left side, scoring Kor. Picciano advanced to third, but was stranded there.

The Bulls have dropped four in a row playing some of the nation's best competition. UB will play Illinois-Chicago in the early game tomorrow, beginning at 11 am and then the championship rounds of the tournament begin, which go into Sunday.
