CLEVELAND, OH - Sophomore Stacey Evans (Collinsville, IL/Triad) of the University at Buffalo softball team was named Mid-American Conference East Division Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week, as announced today by the league office.

Evans appeared in all six of Buffalo's games at the Malihini Tournament last week, starting and pitching four complete games and coming on in relief in two games. She pitched a two-hit shutout against No. 25 Baylor, striking out six in the Bulls' 1-0 win on Thursday to open the tournament. Evans struck out seven of the eight batters she faced in 2.1 innings of relief versus Kent State on Friday to earn her first save of the season, and she also picked up a save against Loyola Marymount on Saturday, allowing no hits in the final 1.1 innings of the game to secure Buffalo's 4-3 lead. For the tournament, Evans allowed just 20 hits and seven earned runs in 32.1 innings for a 1.52 earned run average while striking out 23 batters. She now has a 1.05 ERA and 49 strikeouts on the season.

Evans and the Bulls are traveling to San Jose, CA on Wednesday to play in the San Jose State Invitational on Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15. The Bulls will play the host Spartans and Southern Utah each twice in the three-team tournament. Buffalo then opens Mid-American Conference play with a three-game series at Marshall on Saturday, March 22 and Sunday, March 23.
