After Jennifer Simpkins singled up the middle, both base runners advanced on a wild pitch and a single by Stephanie Eggers drove in Newberry with the first run of the game. Another single up the middle by Jessica Warden then drove in both Simpkins and Eggers to give Austin Peay added insurance. Natasha Anderson allowed just two hits - a double by freshman Kerry Cafazzo (Everett, MA/Everett) and a single by freshman Lacy Schneider (Idyllwild, CA/Hemet) - while striking out seven in the complete-game victory. Senior Stacey Evans (Collinsville, IL/Triad) went the distance for the Bulls, allowing seven hits and striking out three.

In their final game of the day, the Bulls got on the board early with one run in the top of the first inning. Freshman Marcy Hansen (Claremont, CA/Claremont) reached on an error to lead off the game and then came around to score on an RBI-single by sophomore Mary Russell (Apalachin, NY/Owego Free Academy). UT-Martin (6-5) struck back with a three-hit, four-run third inning, highlighted by a bases-clearing double to right center by Nicole Davis. Kristin Runyan also drove in one run with a single up the middle. The Skyhawks added a run in the fifth and a run in the sixth while the Bulls were unable to string together any more hits. Schneider finished 2-for-2 with a double to lead the Bulls' offense, while Russell and freshman Kristen Jock (Latham, NY/Shaker) each had singles. Allison Buckley picked up the complete-game win on the mound for UT-Martin, allowing four hits and no earned runs and striking out four. Junior pitcher Theresa Gugger (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley/Oneonta State) suffered the loss for the Bulls, allowing 10 hits and striking out four.

The Bulls (2-7) begin bracket play on Sunday against Austin Peay at 10 am ET. The winner with face top-seeded Western Kentucky at 2 pm ET, with the championship game to follow at 4 pm ET.
