Softball Splits on Day Two of FIU TournamentMIAMI, FL - The University at Buffalo softball team split two games this afternoon on day two of the Florida International Tournament. The Bulls won their first game of the day over Furman, 6-2, but then dropped their second game to the host Golden Panthers, 5-1. With a 2-2 record thus far, the Bulls are the third seed in the five-team tournament and they will have a chance to avenge their loss to Florida International on Sunday when the two teams meet at 1 pm in the championship round. The winner of that game will advance to the championship game at 3 pm.
Buffalo then dropped a 5-1 decision to Florida International in its second game of the day.
Ross singled in the first and scored on an infield hit by Nasti, but the Bulls gave up two runs in the first,
one in the second and two in the third to the Golden Panthers. Nasti finished the game with two hits in
three at bats, making her 8-of-13 from the plate through Buffalo's first four games in the tournament.
Senior Jessica Kensy (Cheektowaga,
NY/Maryvale) started on the mound for the Bulls and allowed two
earned runs in 1.1 innings pitched. Senior Andrea Sage (Depew,
NY/Depew) pitched the final 5.2 innings in the game, allowing just one earned run and striking out five. |
