Softball Announces New Assistant CoachBUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo head softball coach Marie Curran has announced the addition of Rosie Pagana as an assistant coach on her staff, replacing Shannon Salsburg who left in July to take an assistant coaching position at the University of Arkansas. Pagana comes to UB following a successful playing career at Mansfield University in Pennsylvania where she was a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II first-team All-Region catcher as a junior in 1999 and a second-team All-Region catcher as a senior in 2000. Pagana was also named her team's Most Valuable Player as a senior and was a second-team All-PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) selection as a junior. Pagana earned her bachelor's degree in communication and broadcasting in 2000, and she served as a volunteer assistant coach at her alma mater in 2001 upon graduation. As a volunteer assistant coach, she coordinated a strength training program for the team, ran conditioning and skills drills for the pitchers and catchers and called pitches during games. She also worked for five years at Mansfield's summer camp as a coach for the Upper Division where she coached all aspects of the team and gave instruction and lectures on proper hitting technique. At UB, Pagana will serve as an on-the-field coach as well as monitor the academic progress
of the student-athletes on the team. |
