Fall 2009: Compiled a 5-1 singles and 3-2 doubles record in limited action during the fall. Swept his three singles matches in the season-opening St. Bonaventure Invitational. Attained a number five seed in the ITA Regional championships, the highest ever for a UB player, but was forced to withdraw from the tournament due to illness.

Previous College: Attended the University of Tulsa. Was 5-4 in singles play, mostly at the fourth, fifth and sixth slots. Helped the Golden Hurricane to the Conference USA title as the team reached the second round of the NCAA Championships.

Personal: Born October 11, 1988. Son of Waclaw Starakiewicz and Elzbieta Niebrzydowska-Starakiewicz. Has two sisters (Ewa Jaskolska, Urszula Gulan). Played on both the juniors and men’s ITF circuits , posting a 13-11 record in junior singles. Won the Under-18 Polish Championships in both singles and doubles. Earned a career-high combined ranking of No. 426 from the ITF. Lists Pope John Paul II as his non-sports hero. Enjoys Polish food. Hobbies include dancing and sightseeing. Majoring in communication.
