Bulls' Doubles Duo Still Alive At Rolex ChampionshipsBUFFALO, NY - With a first-round win at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Rolex Regional Championships at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA, senior Budi Susanto (Bali, Indonesia/Hilton Head Prep) and freshman Fery Kasiman (Jakarta, Indonesia/Hilton Head Prep) move on to the round of 32. In the round of 64, Susanto and Kasiman defeated senior Josh Hamilton and junior Bryan Rowland from Towson University, 8-4. UB's duo now faces the 10th seeded combination of sophomore Francis Huot and junior Andrew Vu from Virginia Tech University. Susanto and Kasiman were not as successful in the singles bracket however, as both competitors dropped their first-round matches and later, dropped their consolation matches. Kasiman dropped his first-round match to sophomore Greg Schweitzer from Rutgers University, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4. Later in the consolation bracket, Kasiman lost to freshman Drew Dinkmeyer from Dartmouth University, 6-3, 6-1. Susanto also dropped his first round match, losing 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (6) to sophomore Michael Furman from Connecticut. Michael Sowter from Marist defeated Susanto, 6-3, 6-3, in the consolation bracket. Susanto, playing mostly first singles this fall for the Bulls, finished the fall season with an 8-5 singles mark
While Kasiman, in just his second semester at UB, ended his fall season with a 10-4 singles mark including a
fourth-place finish at the Brown Invitational. The duo currently has a 3-2 record this fall. |
