Cornell Fall Invite Wraps Up Play
The University at Buffalo men’s tennis team completed action at the Cornell Fall Indoor Invitational with a doubles combination advancing to the championship match to highlight the weekend. UB’s doubles team of Nikesh Singh Panthlia (George Town, Malaysia/BMK Penang Free School) and Yules Hadisubroto (Jakarta, Indonesia/SMUN 21) scored three victories on Friday and Saturday to reach the finals, falling to a team from Marist in the championship match.
Doubles Duo Reaches Finals

The UB tandem of Singh Panthlia and Hadisubroto led the Bulls over the weekend. The duo won their first three matches of the Flight A bracket on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, the duo opened with a 9-7 decision over Gregory Marks and Ray Josephs of Marist and moved into the semifinal with an 8-5 win over Chris Albornoz and Charles Mullenger of Army. On Saturday, they knocked off the Cornell duo of Weston Nichols and Bryant Yung by an 8-3 margin. However, in the championship match, the UB twosome fell to Marist’s Pedro Genovese and Federico Rolon by a score of 8-3. In their first pairing of the season, Singh Panthlia and Hadisubroto combined for a 3-1 record. As UB’s top twosome last year, they compiled an 11-11 mark and were 7-3 in tournament action.
Hadisubroto and Stane Impressive in Flight B Singles

Hadisubroto scored a pair of singles victories en route to the semifinal round. Hadisubroto knocked off Alexander Nace of Fairleigh Dickinson, 6-1, 6-4 in his opener and then scored a 6-2, 6-2 win over Temple’s Pavlos Stephanides. His streak was stopped late Saturday with a 6-3, 6-4 loss to Tongle Yu of Cornell.
Octavian Stane (Toronto, Ontario/Leaside), fell in the consolation championship of the Flight B bracket to Colgate’s Marshall Wheeler, 8-4. Stane advanced into Sunday’s finale following an opening round loss to Alex Dobrin of Binghamton on Friday and moved through the consolation bracket with a pair of victories over Justin Seow of Fairleigh Dickinson, 8-5, and Philip Gegenheimer of Temple by default.
