Men's Tennis Sends Two To Rolex Championships

Susanto and Kasiman to Represent UB

BUFFALO, NY - Following its 7-0 undefeated fall season, the University at Buffalo men's tennis program continues its success as two players were invited to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Rolex Regional Championships on November 2-6 at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA. Senior Budi Susanto (Bali, Indonesia/Hilton Head Prep) and freshman Fery Kasiman (Jakarta, Indonesia/Hilton Head Prep) have both accepted their invitations to compete in both singles and doubles play.

"This is the first time in the history of our program that we have had the opportunity to send two players to this championship," said Head Coach Russ Crispell.

The indoor championships, held on campus at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center, will feature the top NCAA singles players and doubles teams from the entire Northeast region. Other teams that will be sending competitors to the championships include Harvard, Princeton, Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Army and Navy.

"Both of the student-athletes that are repsenting the University at Buffalo are seasoned international competitors with extensive tournament experience. They both will represent this university well," said Crispell on his players' chances.

Susanto, playing mostly first singles this fall for the Bulls, finished with an 8-3 singles mark while going 3-2 in doubles competition. Kasiman, in just his second semester at UB, completed his season with a 10-2 singles mark, including a fourth-place finish at the Brown Invitational, and a 3-2 doubles record.

Both players were recruited by Crispell from Hilton Head, SC and are native Indonesians.
