ITHACA, NY - University at Buffalo men's tennis player Nick Zieziula (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis) completed his spectacular run Monday afternoon at the Omni Hotels ITA Northeast Regional Tournament. The event, one of 17 regional championships, for NCAA Division I men and women during the final two weeks of October serve as the nation's premier collegiate indoor tournament.

Zieziula reached the consolation finals on Monday by virtue of a withdrawl by Pennsylvania's Todd Lecher in the semifinals. In the finals, Zieziula, a junior, faced Virginia Tech freshman Morten Schultz, who had advanced following a 6-4, 4-6 (10-3) semifinal victory over Chris McCoy of Boston College. Zieziula's run ended as Schultz pulled out a straight-sets win, 6-3, 6-4, to claim the title.

Playing in the consolation draw, Zieziula had previously downed Princeton's Hans Plukas, 6-4, 5-7 (11-9) in the round of 32 and knocked off Colgate's Marshall Wheeler in the round of 16 by a 6-3, 6-3 margin. Zieziula moved into the semifinal following a withdrawl by Marist's Mark Santucci.
