Mike Rockman Advances to Second Round of ITA Northeast Regional

ITHACA, NY - University at Buffalo freshman Mike Rockman (Toronto, Ontario/Thornhill) has advanced to the second round of the 2003 Omni Hotels Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Men's Regional Championships, being held at Cornell University's Reis Tennis Center in Ithaca, NY. Rockman advanced to the second round with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Hans Plukas of Princeton this afternoon. He will now face 17th-seeded Todd Stecko of Penn State on Saturday.

Buffalo junior Randy Rocchio (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East) also represented the Bulls in the singles draw. He dropped to the consolation bracket with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 loss to Boston College's Justin Slattery in his opening match. Rocchio will also pair with fellow junior Nick Zieziula (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis) to compete in the doubles draw.

Seventeen ITA Regional Championships for NCAA Division I men and women are being held this weekend and next weekend with the singles finalists and doubles champion from each event earning spots in the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, to be held at the University of Michigan from November 6-9.
