Bull's Take St. Michael's in Clean SweepBURLINGTON, VT - The University at Buffalo's men's tennis team claimed a 7-0 victory over St. Michael's College on Friday, October 12.
At first singles, senior Justin Brtko (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East) defeated Todd Spelman, 6-3, 6-3. Freshman Randy Rocchio (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East) defeated Matt McInnis at second singles, 6-0, 6-0. At third singles, freshman Nick Zieziula (Hamburg, NY/ St. Francis) defeated Sol Dostilio, 6-3, 6-0. Freshman Rohan Raikar (Albany, NY/Albany) took the fourth singles win with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Adam Forrest. At fifth singles, freshman Josh Leiderman (Queens Village, NY/ Benjamin Cardozo) defeated Luke Hudak, 6-3, 6-2. Senior Sean Kelly (Gorham, NY/Marcus Whitman) defeated Cliff Rizzi at sixth singles, 6-0, 6-0. The Bulls continued to be successful in the doubles competition. Junior Fery Kasiman (Jakarta, Indonesia/Hilton Head Prep) and Brtko defeated Spelman and Forrest at first doubles, 8-2. The freshman duo of Zieziula and Rocchio took the second doubles win with an 8-0 victory over McInnis and Dostilio. Buffalo made a clean sweep at doubles with a third doubles win over Hudak and Rizzi by Kelley and freshman Chris Pyke (Watertown, NY/Watertown), 8-5. The Bulls will continue competition on October 24-27 at the Rolex ITA Championships
in Princeton, New Jersey. |
