Bulls Bank Big Win Over Vermont

Buffalo Defeats Vermont in Men's Tennis Action

BURLINGTON,VT - University at Buffalo's men's tennis team claimed a 6-1 victory over the University of Vermont on Friday, October 12.

At first singles, junior Fery Kasiman (Jakarta, Indonesia/Hilton Head Prep) rallied to win over Vermont's Zeljko Knezevic in three sets. Senior Justin Brtko (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East) defeated Duncan McDonnell, 4-6, 6-1, 7-5, at second singles. At third singles, freshman Nick Zieziula (Hamburg, NY/ St. Francis) defeated Dimitri Eguer, 6-0, 6-2. Freshman Randy Rocchio (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East) took the fourth singles win with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Jon Cooper. Buffalo's lone defeat was at fifth singles when Vermont's Matthew Spring defeated freshman Rohan Raikar (Albany, NY/Albany), 6-4, 6-3. Freshman Josh Liederman (Queens Village, NY/ Benjamin Cardozo) defeated David Levin at sixth singles, 6-4, 6-4.

The Bulls continued to be successful in the doubles competition. Kasiman and Brtko defeated Levin and McDonnell at first doubles, 8-5. The freshman duo of Zieziula and Rocchio took the second doubles win with an 8-5 victory over Eguer and Knezevic. Buffalo made a clean sweep at doubles with a third doubles win over Cooper and Spring by Raiker and Leiderman, 9-8.

The Bulls will continue competition on October 24-27 at the Rolex ITA Championships in Princeton, New Jersey.
