VESTAL, NY - The University at Buffalo men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Binghamton on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action. With the loss, the Bulls concluded the fall dual-meet slate with a 1-1 record while Binghamton improved to 3-0 and has now claimed the last four matches in the all-time series.

UB opened the match with a 1-0 lead by taking two of the doubles contests. At number one, the combination of Nick Zieziula (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis) and Matt Kennedy (Mississaugua, Ontario/Erindale) knocked off Dan Hanegby and Brian O'Connor, 8-4. The number three squad of Yules Hadisubroto (Jakarta, Indonesia/SMUN 21) and Albert Alant (Pretoria, South Africa/Niskayuna (NY)) downed Krishna Vallabhaneni and Jon Bonnet by an 8-5 margin. The Bulls dropped the number two match as Mike Rockman (Toronto, Ontario/Thornhill) and Josh Liederman (Queens Village, NY/Benjamin Cardozo) were defeated by Alex Dobrin and Faisal Mohamed, 8-5.

Rockman was the only UB player to claim a singles victory as Binghamton took five of six matches to steal the win. Rockman, playing at second singles, needed a tiebreaker to defeat Richemn Mourad. Rockman took the first set, 7-5, but dropped the second, 6-4. In the 10-point tiebreaker, Rockman rallied to claim the match with a 10-3 win.

The remainder of the singles matches went to Binghamton. Zieziula fell to Hanegby, 6-0, 6-2, at number one. At number three, Hadisubroto fell to Dobrin, 6-1, 6-2. At number four, Liederman was defeated by O'Connor, 6-0, 6-1. At number five, Kennedy lost to Mohamed, 6-4, 6-2. The number six match went to three full sets before Alant was defeated by Tony Piro, 1-6, 6-4, 6-4.

The Bulls head to West Point for the Army Shootout Invitational next weekend.
