BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo men's tennis team scored a 7-0 win over visiting St. Francis (PA) University on Saturday morning in non-conference action at UB's University Tennis Club.

With inclement weather threatening throughout the morning, it was agreed by the two teams that the singles would be played first and then the doubles matches would take place. In the singles matches, the Bulls served up more "bagels" (shutouts) than the local bakery, including a pair of "double bagels" at the fifth and sixth slots and not allowing the visiting Red Flash more than two games in any set.

UB's first three singles matches all ended in 6-0, 6-2 scores as Nick Zieziula (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis) defeated Tyler Jones at number one. Mike Rockman (Toronto, Ontario/Thornhill) downed Brent Keough at number two and Yules Hadisubroto (Jakarta, Indonesia/SMUN 21) knocked off Jon Ford at number three by identical 6-0, 6-2 scores. At number four, Josh Liederman (Queens Village, NY/Benjamin Cardozo) defeated Ajay Nune, 6-1, 6-1.

Number five Matt Kennedy (Mississaugua, Ontario/Erindale) and number six Albert Alant (Pretoria, South Africa/Niskayuna (NY)) each locked up "double-bagel" wins. Kennedy defeated Mark Pell while Alant downed Mike Tucci by 6-0, 6-0 decisions.

After a brief rain delay, the doubles commenced with UB scoring another pair of shutouts. UB juggled the doubles lineups with Rockman and Liederman moving up to number one to defeat Jones and Keough, 6-0. Hadisubroto and Alant played at number two and scored another "bagel" with an 8-0 win over Ford and Nune. In the number three match, UB's Joe Popielarczyk (Buffalo, NY/McKinley) and Mike Zappone (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) defeated Pell and Tucci, 8-3.

The Bulls (1-0) travel to Binghamton on Sunday, October 10 to face the Bearcats starting at 2:00 pm.
